Goroka Show

Goroka show is one of the biggest cultural shows that take place in the eastern highlands of Papua New Guinea. The show is popular with tourists and brings together thousands of people that travel to see the various displays of ritual practices, dance, and tribal singing.

As part of the three-day event, participants that number over one hundred showcase singing and dancing from their various communities. Some of the tribes also come wearing fierce masks, ornaments, and other impressive traditional attire.

The Goroka show which is held in September in Goroka town has been in existence for many years and is often a fixture on the calendars of many tourists. It was first set up by “kiaps” who were the patrol officers in Australia and were looking to celebrate the diversity around them. Tourists can rest assured that the hundreds of tribes participating will leave you yearning for more at the end of the three days.
