Enga Cultural Show

Although less known than the popular festivals in Papua New Guinea, the Enga Cultural Show is becoming a “go-to” event for tourists. It is a three-day event that takes place in August within Wabag town, the capital of the Enga Province.

The participants come from different tribes and districts with the majority wearing striking headdresses, traditional attire, and body paint. During the event, the showground changes into a parade of groups dressed in colorful and stunning attires. The stomping of feet to Kundu drums fills the air with grass skirts swaying and bouncing headdresses results in an eclectic experience.

Enga show is intimate and gives a great opportunity for tourists to appreciate the creativity of the people and watch captivating performances. The majority of their attire is made by the community giving visitors a chance to showcase their ingenuity and allow outsiders to immerse themselves in the rich culture of the different communities.
